Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Medjool dates (pitted)
- ½ cup raw almonds
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Pinch of sea salt
Wet Ingredients
- 2 tbsp almond butter (or peanut butter)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional for Rolling
- Shredded coconut or cocoa powder
Instructions
- Prepare the base mixture: Add the pitted dates, raw almonds, and rolled oats to a food processor. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped and well combined.
- Add remaining ingredients: Incorporate the unsweetened cocoa powder, almond butter, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt into the food processor. Process the mixture until it forms a sticky dough. If the mixture feels too dry, add water one teaspoon at a time until it sticks when pressed.
- Form the balls: Scoop out heaping tablespoons of the mixture and roll them between your palms to create smooth balls.
- Coat the balls: Roll each ball in shredded coconut or extra cocoa powder if desired to add texture and enhance flavor.
- Chill: Place the balls in the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.
- Store: Keep the bliss balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
- You can swap almonds for cashews or walnuts depending on preference.
- Any nut or seed butter can be used in place of almond butter.
- For an added nutrition boost, include a tablespoon of protein powder in the mixture.
