Description

Sausage Alfredo Ravioli Lasagna is a comforting Italian-American baked casserole that layers rich Alfredo sauce, tender cheese ravioli, savory Italian sausage, and creamy ricotta cheese, all topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan. This easy, flavorful dish combines the classic flavors of lasagna with the convenience of ravioli, perfect for a hearty family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage Mixture

  • 1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casings removed

Cheese Mixture

  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Assembly

  • 1 jar (15 oz) Alfredo sauce
  • 1 package (20 oz) refrigerated cheese ravioli
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F to ensure it reaches the correct temperature before baking the lasagna.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Mix Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed and smooth.
  4. First Layer: Spread a thin layer of Alfredo sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange half of the cheese ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Layer half of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli, then half of the cooked sausage. Sprinkle one-third of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, and drizzle with additional Alfredo sauce.
  5. Second Layer: Repeat the layering process with the remaining ravioli, ricotta mixture, sausage, and another third of the mozzarella cheese. Add more Alfredo sauce as a drizzle over this layer.
  6. Top Layer: Finish by sprinkling the remaining mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Then, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes to allow the layers to meld and ravioli to cook through.
  8. Uncover and Finish Baking: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes until the dish is bubbly and the cheese is golden brown on top.
  9. Rest and Garnish: Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Frozen ravioli can be used; just make sure to thaw it completely before assembling the lasagna.
  • For extra flavor, mix a spoonful of pesto into the Alfredo sauce before layering.
