Description

A cozy and flavorful Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte that combines warm spices, pumpkin puree, and black tea for a perfect autumn-inspired beverage. This comforting drink is lightly sweetened with maple syrup and can be topped with whipped cream for an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Spices and Tea

  • 3 Whole Cardamom, Crushed
  • 2 Slices Fresh Ginger
  • 1 Stick Cinnamon (1-2 inches)
  • 1 Star Anise
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Whole Allspice
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Whole Cloves
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Black Tea Bag

Milk and Flavorings

  • 2/3 Cup Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Pure Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
  • Whipped Topping (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Simmer Spices: In a small saucepan, add crushed cardamom, fresh ginger slices, cinnamon stick, star anise, ground nutmeg, whole allspice, whole cloves, and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and let it simmer for 4-6 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Brew Tea: Add the black tea bag to the simmering spice mixture. Allow it to brew for 3-5 minutes depending on your preferred tea strength.
  3. Strain Tea and Spices: Use a slotted spoon to strain out all the whole spices and remove the tea bag. Discard the solids to leave a clear spiced tea base.
  4. Add Milk and Pumpkin: Return the strained spiced tea to the heat. Whisk in the milk and pumpkin puree until smooth. Heat the mixture for 1-2 minutes until steaming and frothy. Stir in the maple syrup until well combined.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the chai latte into mugs. Top with whipped topping if desired and sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top. Serve hot and enjoy your comforting Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte!

Notes

  • Adjust the maple syrup amount to taste for sweeter or lighter sweetness.
  • Use dairy or any plant-based milk according to your preference.
  • Can be made vegan by using plant-based milk and skipping whipped topping or using a vegan alternative.
  • For a stronger chai flavor, let the tea steep longer or add an additional tea bag.
  • Make sure to simmer gently to avoid boiling off the milk once added.
  • Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
