- 1 Star Anise
- 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 Teaspoon Whole Allspice
- 1/4 Teaspoon Whole Cloves
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Black Tea Bag
Milk and Flavorings
- 2/3 Cup Milk
- 1 Tablespoon Pure Pumpkin Puree
- 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
- Whipped Topping (Optional)
Instructions
- Simmer Spices: In a small saucepan, add crushed cardamom, fresh ginger slices, cinnamon stick, star anise, ground nutmeg, whole allspice, whole cloves, and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and let it simmer for 4-6 minutes until fragrant.
- Brew Tea: Add the black tea bag to the simmering spice mixture. Allow it to brew for 3-5 minutes depending on your preferred tea strength.
- Strain Tea and Spices: Use a slotted spoon to strain out all the whole spices and remove the tea bag. Discard the solids to leave a clear spiced tea base.
- Add Milk and Pumpkin: Return the strained spiced tea to the heat. Whisk in the milk and pumpkin puree until smooth. Heat the mixture for 1-2 minutes until steaming and frothy. Stir in the maple syrup until well combined.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour the chai latte into mugs. Top with whipped topping if desired and sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top. Serve hot and enjoy your comforting Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte!
Notes
- Adjust the maple syrup amount to taste for sweeter or lighter sweetness.
- Use dairy or any plant-based milk according to your preference.
- Can be made vegan by using plant-based milk and skipping whipped topping or using a vegan alternative.
- For a stronger chai flavor, let the tea steep longer or add an additional tea bag.
- Make sure to simmer gently to avoid boiling off the milk once added.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
