Description

Delightful Gouda and Tomato Tea Sandwiches featuring a creamy garlic cheese spread on lightly toasted Italian baguette slices, topped with fresh tomato and parsley. Perfect for tea parties, gatherings, or elegant appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 2 Long Italian Baguettes

Cheese Spread

  • 4 oz Gouda cheese (1 cup finely grated)
  • 7 oz Mozzarella Cheese, Low Moisture Part Skim (2 cups finely shredded)
  • 1-2 garlic cloves (depending on preference)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (real mayo, or olive oil for a healthier version)

Toppings

  • 3 small tomatoes, sliced
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for toasting the bread slices.
  2. Slice the Bread: Cut the baguettes diagonally into slices about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  3. Prepare the Cheese: Grate the Gouda and mozzarella cheeses finely and place them in a medium bowl.
  4. Make the Spread: Press garlic cloves into the cheese mixture. Gradually add mayonnaise, about 1 tablespoon at a time, stirring until the spread is creamy but not too loose.
  5. Bake the Bread: Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the bread slices for 7 to 10 minutes or until the edges turn golden.
  6. Assemble the Sandwiches: Remove bread from oven. While still warm, spread the garlic cheese mixture on each slice, top with a slice of tomato, and garnish with fresh parsley.
  7. Serve: Enjoy the sandwiches fresh. Don’t hesitate to eat the parsley garnish, as it enhances the flavor wonderfully.

Notes

  • You can substitute olive oil for mayonnaise for a healthier spread option.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic to suit your taste preference.
  • Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • These sandwiches are best served immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy.
  • Perfect finger food for tea parties and light gatherings.
