Description

This Garlic Bread recipe offers a flavorful and cheesy twist on a classic favorite, perfect for serving as a side or appetizer. Made with fresh herbs, a blend of Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses, and a rich garlic butter spread, it is grilled to perfection, creating a crispy exterior with a warm, gooey cheesy topping.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 16 oz Loaf French bread or Italian bread

Garlic Butter Spread

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 garlic cloves (large, finely minced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped (plus more to garnish)

Cheese Topping

  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (shredded)
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)

Other

  • 1 Reynolds WrapⓇ Non-Stick Foil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garlic Butter Mix: In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley, 1/4 tsp sea salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 2 finely minced garlic cloves. Mash the mixture together with a fork until well blended. In a separate bowl, combine the shredded parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
  2. Prepare Bread for Grilling: Cut your loaf of French or Italian bread in half lengthwise. Evenly spread the prepared garlic butter mixture on the inside of each half. Place the bread, buttered side down, onto a large sheet of Reynolds WrapⓇ Non-Stick Foil. Fold the foil over the bread, sealing the edges tightly to create a foil pack.
  3. Grill Bread: Place the foil pack on the grill, positioning the buttered side down. Cover the grill with the lid and cook for 5 minutes. This allows the bread to toast and the garlic butter to infuse.
  4. Add Cheese and Finish Grilling: Carefully open the foil pack using tongs. Flip the bread halves so the buttered side is up. Sprinkle the combined parmesan and mozzarella cheese evenly over each half. Do not reseal the foil. Cover the grill again and cook for another 4 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
  5. Serve: Remove the foil pack from the grill. Slice the garlic bread into individual servings, garnish with additional fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • If you do not have access to a grill, you can bake the garlic bread in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). After spreading the garlic butter mixture on the bread, place the halves buttered side up on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then sprinkle the cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.
  • For extra crispiness, you can broil the bread for 1-2 minutes after baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but you can substitute with 1/2 tsp garlic powder if necessary.
  • Ensure the butter is softened to make spreading easier and to help blend flavors thoroughly.
