Ingredients
Scale
Avocados
- 3 medium avocados, cubed
Vegetables & Herbs
- ¾ cup tomatoes, diced
- ¼ cup red onion, diced
- ¼ cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
- 1 medium jalapeño pepper, minced
Other
- 2 medium limes, juice only
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Mash Avocados: Cut avocados into large pieces. In a large bowl, mash avocados with a fork to your desired consistency, smooth or chunky.
- Add Lime and Salt: Pour in the fresh lime juice and sprinkle the salt onto the mashed avocados. Mix thoroughly to blend the flavors and prevent browning.
- Dice Vegetables: Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro finely to add freshness and texture to the guacamole.
- Prep Jalapeño: Wearing gloves, remove the seeds and white membrane from the jalapeño to reduce heat if desired, then mince finely.
- Combine: Add the diced tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and minced jalapeño into the avocado mixture. Stir gently until all ingredients are well combined and evenly distributed.
Notes
- Wear gloves while handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation from the capsaicin.
- Adjust the amount of jalapeño to control the spiciness of your guacamole.
- For a more robust flavor, use ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
- Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed onto the guacamole surface to minimize browning.
- Great as a dip, spread, or topping for tacos and grilled meats.
