Description

This Fresh Homemade Guacamole is a simple, vibrant, and creamy avocado dip perfect for snacks, parties, or as a topping for your favorite Mexican dishes. Ready in just 10 minutes, it combines ripe avocados with fresh tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and cilantro for a tangy and slightly spicy flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Avocados

  • 3 medium avocados, cubed

Vegetables & Herbs

  • ¾ cup tomatoes, diced
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 medium jalapeño pepper, minced

Other

  • 2 medium limes, juice only
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mash Avocados: Cut avocados into large pieces. In a large bowl, mash avocados with a fork to your desired consistency, smooth or chunky.
  2. Add Lime and Salt: Pour in the fresh lime juice and sprinkle the salt onto the mashed avocados. Mix thoroughly to blend the flavors and prevent browning.
  3. Dice Vegetables: Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro finely to add freshness and texture to the guacamole.
  4. Prep Jalapeño: Wearing gloves, remove the seeds and white membrane from the jalapeño to reduce heat if desired, then mince finely.
  5. Combine: Add the diced tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and minced jalapeño into the avocado mixture. Stir gently until all ingredients are well combined and evenly distributed.

Notes

  • Wear gloves while handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation from the capsaicin.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeño to control the spiciness of your guacamole.
  • For a more robust flavor, use ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
  • Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed onto the guacamole surface to minimize browning.
  • Great as a dip, spread, or topping for tacos and grilled meats.
