Scale
Bread Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 teaspoons ground nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup Southern Comfort Eggnog
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
Glaze Ingredients
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup Southern Comfort Eggnog (plus more if needed)
- 2 ½ – 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon bourbon
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×5-inch glass loaf pan with non-stick baking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt until well combined.
- Cream Butter and Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, Southern Comfort Eggnog, and sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually beat the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fill Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Glaze: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Slowly add powdered sugar and Southern Comfort Eggnog, mixing well to create a smooth glaze. Add bourbon and mix. Adjust the consistency with more eggnog or powdered sugar as needed.
- Glaze Bread: Once the bread is completely cool, drizzle the cream cheese bourbon glaze over the top to serve.
Notes
- Make sure the bread is completely cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting and becoming too runny.
- Use fresh eggnog for best flavor; store-bought works fine, but homemade eggnog adds more richness.
- You can substitute bourbon with rum or omit alcohol for a kid-friendly version.
- Store the bread covered at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
- For extra nutmeg flavor, sprinkle a little on top of the glaze before it sets.
