Description

Cinnamon Popcorn is a delightful sweet snack made by coating freshly popped popcorn with a warm mixture of butter, brown sugar, honey, and cinnamon. This easy stovetop recipe offers a perfect balance of sweetness and spice, making it an ideal treat for movie nights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn

  • 8 cups plain popped popcorn

Coating

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the popcorn: Place the 8 cups of plain popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and set aside to ensure it’s ready for coating.
  2. Make the cinnamon glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Stir in 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Cook the mixture: Continue stirring the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes smooth, bubbly, and slightly thickened, ensuring all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Coat the popcorn: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately drizzle the cinnamon glaze over the popcorn in the bowl. Use a spatula or clean hands to gently toss and evenly coat all the popcorn pieces with the glaze.
  5. Set and serve: Let the coated popcorn cool for a few minutes, allowing the glaze to set slightly. Serve immediately or transfer to an airtight container to store for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  • Drizzle with white chocolate for a sweet twist.
  • This recipe also works well with air-popped or lightly salted microwave popcorn.
