Description

    For the cake:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For topping (optional):

  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache or melted chocolate


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the cake: Beat eggs and sugar until thick, add vanilla and milk. Sift and fold in dry ingredients. Spread batter in pan and bake for 10–12 minutes.
  3. Roll the cake: Invert cake onto a towel dusted with powdered sugar, roll up and cool.
  4. Make the filling: Whip cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  5. Assemble: Unroll cake, spread whipped cream, roll back up, and transfer to a plate.
  6. Optional: Drizzle with chocolate and refrigerate for 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a richer filling, add mascarpone or cream cheese to the whipped cream.
  • The cake can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
  • Use a serrated knife for clean slices.
