Description

This Chicken Apple Sausage recipe combines lean ground chicken with sweet diced apples and aromatic spices to create flavorful homemade patties. Perfectly seasoned and pan-fried to golden perfection, these sausage patties make a delicious and healthy breakfast or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 lb. ground chicken (93/7)

Produce

  • 1 cup apple (finely diced)

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. ground sage
  • ½ tsp. fennel seeds
  • ½ tsp. rosemary
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt (to taste)
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper

Oil

  • 2 Tbsp. oil (avocado or olive)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture: Add all ingredients except the oil to a large bowl. Using your hands or a stiff spatula, mix everything thoroughly until well combined. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
  2. Cook the Patties: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat, coating the bottom evenly. Allow the oil to heat for 1-2 minutes, then place the patties in a single layer. Cook for 7-8 minutes total, flipping once halfway through, until the patties are golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Serve or Store: Serve the sausage patties immediately while hot, or let them cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
  • Feel free to swap the apples for pears for a slightly different flavor.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the skillet to allow even browning on each patty.
  • These patties can also be frozen for up to 2 months—thaw before reheating.
  • Adjust the spices to your preference, adding more sage or rosemary if desired.
