Description
Cherry Delight is a simple, no-bake dessert featuring a buttery graham cracker crust, smooth cream cheese filling, and a luscious cherry topping. Perfect for an easy and refreshing treat that requires minimal preparation and no oven time unless you prefer a firmer crust.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
For the Filling
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
For the Topping
- 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix thoroughly until well combined, then press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch pan to form an even crust layer. Place the crust in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the filling.
- Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the cream cheese and mix until fully incorporated and smooth.
- Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Continue folding until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, ensuring the whipped topping is evenly distributed without deflating it.
- Assemble the Layers: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled graham cracker crust, smoothing out the top layer for an even finish.
- Add the Cherry Topping: Spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly to the edges of the pan to cover the entire surface.
- Chill to Set: Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 4 hours or overnight. This chilling time allows the layers to set firmly for easier slicing and enhanced flavors.
Notes
- For a firmer crust, bake the graham cracker crust at 350°F (175°C) for 8 minutes before adding the filling and allow it to cool completely.
- You can substitute the cherry pie filling with blueberry or strawberry pie filling for a different fruit flavor variation.
- Use full-fat cream cheese and whipped topping for best texture and flavor.
