Description

These Caramel Apple Bars are the perfect fall dessert, combining a buttery oat crust, sweet cinnamon apples, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Easy to make and even easier to enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

Caramel Apple Bars:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted

Apple Filling:

  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Additional:

  • 1/2 cup jarred or homemade caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the crust: In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in melted butter until crumbly. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the pan for the crust.
  3. Prepare the apples: Toss chopped apples with cinnamon and flour. Spread over the crust.
  4. Add caramel and nuts: Drizzle caramel sauce over apples, sprinkle with nuts if desired. Crumble remaining oat mixture on top.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and apples are tender.
  6. Cool and serve: Cool in the pan before slicing. Drizzle with extra caramel before serving.

Notes

  • For cleaner slices, refrigerate bars for 1 hour after cooling.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.
