Description

Animal Face Toast is a fun and creative recipe that transforms simple whole-grain toast into delightful animal faces using a variety of fresh fruits and spreads. Perfect for kids and adults alike, this quick and easy recipe encourages healthy eating with a playful twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 2 slices of whole-grain bread
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter or cream cheese

Fruits & Toppings

  • 1 banana
  • 4 strawberries
  • Handful of blueberries
  • Handful of raisins or chocolate chips
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread: Toast the slices of whole-grain bread until they are golden brown and crispy, creating a sturdy base for your animal faces.
  2. Spread the base: Evenly spread a layer of peanut butter or cream cheese over each slice of toasted bread to act as ‘glue’ and add flavor.
  3. Prepare the fruits: Wash all fruits thoroughly. Slice the banana into thin rounds and slice the strawberries to prepare them for decorating.
  4. Start decorating: Begin to creatively arrange the fruit pieces on the toast to form animal faces.
  5. Create a bear face: Place three banana slices on each toast: two at the top corners for ears and one in the middle for the snout. Add two blueberries above the snout for eyes and a raisin or chocolate chip on the snout banana slice for the nose.
  6. Create a cat face: Use two apple slices at the top corners as ears. Position two strawberry slices below the ears for cheeks. Add two blueberries for eyes and a small raisin or chocolate chip between the strawberries as the nose. Thin strips of apple slices can be used to draw whiskers.
  7. Experiment further: Use different combinations of fruits and placements to create other animal faces like owls, lions, or monkeys, customizing as you like.
  8. Serve fresh: Once satisfied with your designs, serve the toasts immediately for the best freshness and texture.

Notes

  • Use peanut butter for a protein boost or cream cheese for a milder flavor.
  • Substitute raisins with chocolate chips for a sweeter touch.
  • Ensure fruits are sliced thinly for easier decoration and better adherence to the spread.
  • Serve immediately to prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
  • Feel free to substitute fruits depending on seasonality or dietary preferences.
