Ingredients
Scale
Taquitos
- 10 small (6-inch) flour tortillas
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Optional Toppings
- Powdered sugar
- Whipped cream
Instructions
- Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon thoroughly. Set this mixture aside for coating the taquitos later.
- Fill Tortillas: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling down the center of each small flour tortilla. Be careful not to overfill to prevent leakage during cooking.
- Roll and Butter Tortillas: Roll each filled tortilla tightly and place them seam-side down to secure the filling. Lightly brush the outside with melted butter to help the cinnamon sugar adhere and to promote browning.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: Either roll each buttered taquito in the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture or sprinkle the mixture evenly over each one to coat completely.
- Air Fry Taquitos: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the taquitos seam-side down in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Air fry for 5 to 7 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Let the taquitos cool slightly after cooking. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or topped with whipped cream for added sweetness and presentation.
Notes
- Do not overfill the tortillas to avoid filling spillage during air frying.
- Ensure the taquitos are placed seam-side down in the air fryer to keep them sealed while cooking.
- For an extra touch, you can add a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream on top before serving.
- Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model; watch for golden brown crispiness as a sign of doneness.
- Use flour tortillas for the best texture; corn tortillas may crack when rolling.
